Emma McGee is a Biracial emerging artist in Windsor, Ontario. She is currently completing her last year as a BFA student at the University of Windsor. With paint as her medium, she uses traditionally feminine objects as subject matter before distorting them until they become nearly unrecognizable. An elegant violence that is representative of being a women. Her practice is a self-exploration of women hood through objects often past down from mothers to daughters in her culture. Her current body of work is exploring how to include historical women’s work such as craft into a painted surface. As a new Vanguard member, she is looking forward to working more with the local arts community as well as other emerging artists.
