I am looking for a learning opportunity.

The Arts Council Windsor and Region provides workshops that aim to provide artists at all stages of their careers and practices with usable and accessible information, examples, and support with professional development.
If you are looking for skills classes and workshops (i.e. painting, printmaking, writing classes) you can access our community calendar which lists many of the upcoming creative learning workshops and courses offered throughout the community.

How do I apply for grants?

Every grant is different and there are different processes or requirements for each to apply. Start by reading the grant guidelines and eligibility requirements. If you have any questions you can usually contact a grant officer directly who will be happy to answer inquiries.

Most applications will require you to supply an artist statement, Curriculum Vitae (CV), documentation of work (images, video, writing samples etc) and also a proposed budget. The ACWR hosts an annual workshop on grant writing – stay tuned to by visiting our Events & Workshops page.

The ACWR also offers its members free 1 hour grant consultations. Become a member, schedule a meeting with one of our staff (info@acwr.net), come prepared with the application and your support material and we’ll provide you with tips and insights into the application process. Please note: These grant consultation sessions are meant to aid the artist in the process of applying to a grant, not to write an application on behalf of the artist. We support applicants with the City of Windsor’s ACHF program, various grants offered by the Ontario Arts Council, and with applications to the Windsor Endowment for the Arts’ WEA Awards/Grants.

Does the ACWR provide financial support?

The ACWR does not provide financial assistance or granting opportunities directly to artists or arts organizations at this time. If you are an artist or an arts organization seeking financial support, please visit our resources section for information on grants and other funding resources. You are also welcome to stop by the ACWR office anytime to talk to any of our staff about possible financial opportunities open to artists and arts organizations.
