Senior Community Arts Program
a program for adults fifty and up
June, 2024 — The Arts Council Windsor & Region is proud to introduce a Senior Community Arts Program dedicated to empowering and engaging adults fifty and up. Through enriching workshops, skill-sharing activities, and a group exhibition at ArtSpeak Gallery, the program will foster creativity and meaningful connections. This free program will run monthly, from June 2024 – December 2024. This program is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. We would also like to thank our partners Life After Fifty and Art Windsor Essex. The ACWR team is thrilled to introduce a senior-specific arts program designed to address the evolving needs of our community. With a heartfelt focus on community engagement and social inclusion, this project is set to touch the lives of seniors in many creative ways. Seniors will be taking the lead in workshops, activities, and group exhibitions, guided by our dedicated Senior Community Coordinator and the ACWR team. By actively involving seniors in the decision-making processes and skill-sharing activities, we’re not just promoting volunteerism, we’re empowering them to contribute meaningfully to their community while enhancing their own experiences. Through collaborative workshops, seniors become mentors and mentees, sharing their wisdom and expertise with peers and skill-sharing with other generations. This culture of learning and support not only enriches individual lives but also strengthens the bonds within our community. Our program provides countless opportunities for seniors to connect, learn, and grow together. From engaging activities to captivating group exhibitions at ArtSpeak Gallery, every step of this journey is designed to foster a sense of belonging and inclusion. So, whether you’re eager to engage with your community, or simply looking to make meaningful connections, we invite you to join us throughout the program. Together, let’s create a brighter, more interconnected future folks fifty and up!
