Figureworks 2019 Call for Artists
The call for submissions to the 10th annual juried Figureworks Prize and award show is now open. Figureworks is a celebration of art of the human form, held in Canada’s capital, Ottawa. Each year, we come together to celebrate the human figure through the Figureworks Prize. The call is open to all living artists, in Canada and internationally, working in all media who wish to submit recent works that represent the human form or parts thereof. Entry fees go directly to operational costs and prize money. The total prize value in 2018 was $7,000.
The 2019 show will be juried by Michael Davidge, Andrew Morrow and Joanne Stober.
Our mission at Figureworks is to cultivate the creation and exhibition of art of the human form. We do this by providing an excellent opportunity to exhibit artwork of the human form and receive a significant cash prize. We are a volunteer-based not-for-profit organization. Entry fees and sponsorship go directly to operational costs and prize money. We don’t take any commissions on sales at the Figureworks exhibition — all the money goes directly to the artists.

Submission deadline is September 30, 2019.
Please note that we do have a reduced submission fee for students.
Why enter?
Figureworks is more than an annual prize; it is a community of artists passionate about representing and interpreting the human figure. Each year we come together to celebrate the figure through the Figureworks Prize. Artists will have their work reviewed by our professional jury and the opportunity to win cash prizes. In 2019, we awarded $7,000. Those in the show will have their work displayed in Ottawa, Canada’s capital, and published on the Figureworks website. Artists may also sell their works at the show should they choose. Note that Figureworks takes no commission on sales – sales go directly to the artists.

L’appel à candidatures pour la 10ème édition du concours et remise de prix Figureworks est maintenant ouvert. Figureworks est une célébration de l’art de la forme humaine, tenue dans la capitale du Canada, Ottawa. Chaque année, nous nous réunissons pour célébrer la figure humaine à travers le prix Figureworks. L’appel est ouvert à tous les artistes vivants, au Canada et à l’étranger, travaillant dans tous les médias et souhaitant soumettre des œuvres récentes représentant la forme humaine ou des parties de celle-ci. Les frais d’inscription vont directement aux coûts opérationnels et aux prix. La valeur totale du prix en 2018 était de 7 000 $.

Notre mission chez Figureworks est de cultiver la création et l’exposition d’art de la forme humaine. Pourquoi soumettre?
Figureworks est plus qu’un prix annuel; c’est une communauté d’artistes passionnés par la représentation et l’interprétation de la figure humaine. Les artistes verront leur travail examiné par notre jury de professionnels et auront la possibilité de gagner des prix en argent – 7 000 $ ont été décernés l’année dernière. Les œuvres seront exposées à Ottawa, capitale du Canada, et publiées sur le site web de Figureworks. Les artistes peuvent également vendre leurs œuvres lors de l’exposition s’ils le souhaitent. Notez que Figureworks ne prélève aucune commission sur les ventes – les ventes vont directement aux artistes.
