Out of the Shadows On to the Streets: 180 Years of 2SLGBTQIA+ Visibility in Windsor-Essex
August 2, 2022 @ 10:00 am - September 4, 2022 @ 5:00 pm

New 2SLGBTQIA+ Exhibit at the Chimczuk Museum

Museum Windsor is excited to announce the opening of a new exhibition: Out of the Shadows On to the Streets: 180 Years of 2SLGBTQIA+ Visibility in Windsor-Essex. This exhibition was created in partnership with Art Windsor-Essex, The Windsor Essex Rainbow Alliance, and local artist Rachel Pieters.

Windsor-Essex has a long and interesting 2SLGBTQIA+ history. Unfortunately, much of that history has been erased or lost through the suppression of 2SLGBTQIA+ identities, lack of interest in the greater Windsor/Essex community, overall hate or ignorance, and lack of recognition for the importance of local 2SLGBTQIA+ stories and struggles.

This joint exhibition includes a brief timeline of local 2SLGBTQIA+ milestones organized by Walter Cassidy and original works of art by local artist Rachel Pieters.

The exhibition will be on display at the Chimczuk Museum from August 2 – September 4, 2022.
