CORPUS is touring “Camping Royale” this summer in Ontario and is looking for presenters who are looking to program a fantastic outdoor show that is perfect to be performed in parks, market squares, even parking lots! Our set is minimal, and we will bring everything required from Toronto. Looking forward to talking to you! A twisted fairy tale for young and old children! Camping Royale is a satire on colonialism and the privileged class. It features Queen Sophie-Charlotte and Queen Louise (both lived in 18th century Europe – the former was the queen of England, aunt to the latter who was the queen of Prussia), embarking on an absurd camping trip, far away from court. The baroque queens’ attempt to connect with the ‘common people’ is genuine but out of touch with 21st-century reality. With only the help of one faithful servant, they have to use their creativity to survive in the wild. Their castle is reduced to basic tents, royal dances have to be executed on muddy grounds, one needs to fish for lunch, battle wild beasts and cope with the unpredictable whims of Mother Nature. Two worlds collide in this humorous and charming production that combines dance with object theatre. With references to well-known fairy tales and hilarious audience interactions, Camping Royale is a signature work by CORPUS. It delights children and adults of all ages.
