DEADLINE: Thursday, March 12, 2020 by 10:00 p.m. EST

The City of Mississauga invites Canadian professional artists or artist teams to submit proposals to create original banner artwork for Mississauga’s downtown, Civic Centre area.

Artists are asked to propose artwork that considers the future, engaging viewers in a conversation that explores Mississauga’s continual growth and the transformation of urban places into community spaces. Artwork should engage Mississauga’s residents in a dialogue of their history and evoke a sense of community belonging.

Banners will be accompanied by street signs, connecting banners with the street level and engaging viewers in discussions around how they want to see downtown evolve.

The commissioned artist(s) will be responsible for creating six banner designs and for assisting in the development of community engagement signs. The City of Mississauga will be responsible for all fabrication and installation. Banners will be displayed from June to November 2020.

The commissioned artist(s) will receive $7,500.00 + HST. Fabrication and installation costs are covered by the City and are not included in this fee.
