KING WILLIAM STREET BEACON AND GATE PUBLIC ART PROJECT

CALL FOR ARTISTS

The City of Hamilton is seeking Artists and Artist-led teams to submit proposals for a permanent public art work at the corner of King William Street and James Street North in downtown Hamilton. The work will replace an existing light standard, may be illuminated and shall incorporate a gate feature that can temporarily close the street to vehicular traffic for special events.

Artists will be selected by a volunteer citizen Jury through a two-stage process. Stage 1 will involve a concept and design proposal. Artists selected for Stage 2 will be given the opportunity to consult with engineering and electrical consultants engaged by the City of Hamilton to assist them in developing a detailed proposal for public consultation and final adjudication.

Award: $115,000
Shortlisted Artists completing a Stage 2 submission will receive a $2,500 honorarium.

Submission Deadline: Thursday February 27th, 2020 at 3:00 PM EST

Artists are invited to view a presentation on the adjudication process, submission requirements and ask questions. This is not a mandatory meeting.
