Cambridge Art Galleries | Idea Exchange is seeking a full-time, permanent Exhibition Coordinator to join our team.

Cambridge Art Galleries is uniquely supported within the Idea Exchange (formerly Cambridge Libraries & Galleries) system and has three distinct gallery locations: Queen’s Square Gallery, Preston Gallery, and Design at Riverside Gallery. Cambridge Art Galleries functions as an independent organization within the Cambridge Public Library Board parent organization. Our artistic activities engage, embrace, and empower people of all ages and abilities from diverse ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds. We promote and support emerging and professional artists, advocate for the advancement of the creative sector, and we actively acquire, conserve, exhibit, and evolve the context of our permanent collection of contemporary Canadian fibre art.
The Role:
As Exhibition Coordinator, you will play a key role in program delivery, health and safety implementation, and exhibition planning by coordinating the shipping and installation of our exhibitions/programs for all three of our public art gallery locations: Queen’s Square, Design at Riverside, and Preston. You will work closely with the Gallery Director and the Curator to handle exhibition logistics, install diverse exhibitions; perform condition assessments of artworks; complete collection management duties; manage the technical and maintenance aspects of the galleries, art vault, and studio spaces; work closely with the University of Waterloo School of Architecture to support an annual partnership program; and other duties as required.
To be qualified for the role, you should possess a college certificate/diploma, ideally in studio art, coupled with proven experience and knowledge in contemporary art practices. The idea candidate will have exhibition coordination experience and art-handling skills, high attention to detail, strong commitment and knowledge of health and safety policies, and experience working with diverse art materials and technologies. An ability to use MS Office, PastPerfect collection software, and exceptional research skills, are valuable to the position. You must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive to gallery locations as well as to other locations for artwork pickups and deliveries.
