Join Open Studio’s Team!

Open Studio is an Artist-Run Centre (ARC) dedicated to contemporary print. We offer accessible, inclusive and affordable printmaking facilities, programs and services for artists and the public from across Canada and abroad. We support artists in the creation and exhibition of contemporary print in an open-minded, safe and collaborative environment. Our vision is to shape the exploration of print as essential, dynamic, and relevant to contemporary culture and creative thought.

We are excited to announce openings for print instructors in our education program and a Career Launcher opportunity through OCAD University.

Call for Teaching Instructors

Open Studio offers printmaking classes throughout the year. Our education program is open to everyone with or without printmaking experience. We provide small class sizes to accommodate different learning styles and offer a personalized experience. We also offer one-on-one / private instruction.

Pay rate: $30/hr, part-time/contract
Term: contract based on class/workshop schedule
Application Deadline: Applicants are considered year-round

Open Studio’s Education Committee is currently looking for dynamic teaching instructors to deliver hands-on* printmaking courses. Open Studio typically runs 4-week courses (12 hours) and weekend workshops (10-12 hours). We are looking for instructors in the following print techniques:

  • Introduction to Screenprinting
  • CMYK Screenprinting
  • Letterpress
  • Etching (copper plate)
  • Linocut/Woodcut (relief printing)
  • Lithography
  • Monoprint

Career Launcher (OCAD U Recruited Placement): Studio and Education Assistant

Note: You must be a current OCAD U student in any discipline in your final year at the undergraduate level and any year at the Master’s level to apply.

OCAD University’s RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers is excited to announce a recruited placement in partnership with Open Studio for the role of Studio and Education Assistant.

The Studio and Education Assistant will work to help maintain a safe and open studio space. They will also assist with education programs, including ordering and preparing materials, and liaising with instructors. The Studio and Education Assistant will also help with collaborative print projects at Open Studio. This role is meant to give an emerging printmaker hands-on working experience in the day-to-day operations of a print studio, custom print production, and education programs.

Pay rate: $25/hr, part-time/contract (25 hours per week)
Term: August 15 to December 15, 2021*
Application Deadline: June 13, 2021, at 11:59 PM EST

*This is a paid, part-time, contract position to be worked remotely in Eastern Daylight Time and in-studio when facilities re-open.
