Project Goals
The goal of the artwork is to create a dedication for OpenText employees impacted by COVID-19 and lives lost in the pandemic.

The successful artwork proposal will:

  • Manifest legacy and longevity
  • Be memorable
  • Be reflective of our global community spirit
  • Honour the resilience of humankind
  • Be an original artwork
  • Be easily maintained
  • Be permanent

Locations of Consideration
The artwork will reside at OpenText headquarters in Waterloo, Ontario. The artwork may be any medium and may reside at one of these locations. For example, a sculpture, a painting, or mural may be acceptable. See appendix for photos of locations:

  • Building 1 reception right side lobby space
  • Hallway off building 1 reception

Eligibility
The artwork project must meet the following criteria:

  • Artist must be Canadian
  • Within budget of $25,000
  • Be delivered no later than September 3, 2021

Not eligible

  • Pre-existing artwork used for a previous call, placed in a gallery, sold, or any other existing use

Schedule
Artist call opens: April 12, 2021
Submission deadline: April 30, 2021
Artist is announced: May 14, 2021
Artwork installed: September 2021

Selection Process
Proposals will be reviewed and selected by an internal committee at OpenText including the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Legal Officer.

Budget
Artist proposals must be within a $25,000 budget which is inclusive of:

  • All artwork production and workshop materials
  • All contingencies

Proposal must include:

  • Max 250-word summary of artistic approach and intention of work
  • A min of 3 & max of 8 images of previous work
  • An outline of work’s title, materials, dimension
  • 2 references
