Submission deadline: August 13, 2021 at 3:00 pm

The Municipality of Dysart et al is requesting proposals and quotations from artists to create murals on the Wall of Sports Heroes on the the A. J. LaRue Community Centre in the village of Haliburton.

Haliburton is well known for its hockey players, but we are also home to athletes with extraordinary talents in other sports.

Our community wants to honour Lesley Tashlin, Haliburton’s first Olympian, representing Canada in the sprint hurdles and relay in the 1986 Olympics and Taly Williams, the first graduate from Haliburton Highlands Secondary School and University of Waterloo to play in the CFL. with murals on the Wall of Sports Heroes.

Each mural will be 12 ft in height and 18.5 feet in width. The murals will be painted on panels which will be mounted on the wall. Images of the athletes provided.

Haliburton is located approximately 210 km northeast of Toronto in what is often known as “cottage country” The village of Haliburton, with a beautiful location on Head Lake, surrounded by forested hills, is also known as a centre for the arts, home to the Haliburton School of Art and Design and the Haliburton Sculpture Forest.
