Call for Indigenous Faculty
Emily Carr University of Art + Design, located on ancestral and unceded Coast Salish territories in Vancouver, Canada, is now recruiting five permanent Indigenous faculty members.
Aside from teaching and research in their respective fields, the new faculty will contribute to ongoing initiatives to strengthen cultural competency at every level of the university and support the global process to decolonize the academy.
Indigeneity is one of the core priorities of the university’s strategic plan, and we are committed to integrating Indigenous knowledge systems into our curriculum, pedagogy and governance.
These new faculty will bolster our current Aboriginal programming, forming and informing the critical mass of leading artists, designers, and media practitioners centered around Indigenous methods and perspectives at Emily Carr University.
This opportunity is open only to qualified individuals who self-identify as Indigenous Peoples of North America or Peoples of Turtle Island, including those who identify as First Nations (status, non-status, treaty or non-treaty), Métis, Inuit, or Alaskan Native, Native American, and Native Hawaiian Peoples. This initiative is a special program under the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal.
We invite applications to these tenured and tenure-track positions within the disciplines of the Faculty of Culture + Community, the Audain Faculty of Art and the Ian Gillespie Faculty of Design + Dynamic Media.
