Call for Artists: Sounds Like Audio Art Festival
10th Edition: Corporeal Origins
Festival Dates: October 1-4, 2020
Sounds Like and The Unheard Sound Collective invite local, national and international audio artists and musicians to submit proposals for the latest iteration of Saskatchewan’s only audio art festival. We are seeking submissions for audio works responding to the theme for this year’s festival: Corporeal Origins. The theme connects us with the human impulse to create sound and the ways it is physically manifested. Birth and decay, gesture and animation, resonance and location. Corporeal Origins is an invitation to be present.
Successful applicants will respond to the theme with innovative approaches to sound including live performance, site-specific and ephemeral installation. Because Sounds Like does not have a dedicated gallery space, proposals for installation-based work must address any technical, security and safety issues arising from public installation to be considered.
We’re also looking for proposals for a short film program within the theme, paying IMAA fees.

Submissions must be a single pdf document sent as an attachment and should include:
- 1 page project description
- technical outline/ staging description
- related work samples via embedded online links
- CV (max 3 pages)
Any information included in the body of the email will not be considered by the selection committee.
Sounds Like At Nite – Call for live performance & djs
In addition to the regular call for submissions to Sounds Like, artists interested in performing at the afterparty on Friday October 2nd and Saturday October 3rd are encouraged to submit an application. Special consideration will be given to projects which address the Corporeal Origins theme. Selected artists will receive a performance fee in line with CARFAC rates.

Sounds Like is an audio art and experimental music festival based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It presents local, national and international artists whose work encompasses experimental audio practices. The festival is curated within an annual theme and takes the format of nightly performances, as well as artist-led workshops, artist talks, installations, and film screenings. In 2020, Sounds Like will be presented by the Unheard Sound Collective.
