Do you want to showcase your talents in front of thousands? Are you a creator – entertainer, musician, performance artist or visual artist – with a flair for making compelling, engaging, interactive experiences? This winter, we are taking the beloved annual Luminaria event at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden to the next level. While maintaining the roots of this popular event – candlelight, firelight and starlight in a snowy garden – we are reimagining what winter can be. And we want you to be a part of redefining winter!
We’re seeking creative individuals and groups to elevate the backdrop of a beautiful illuminated Garden, and make the experience even more memorable to the 24,000 visitors we expect to attend Luminaria in December alone. We intend to offer a variety of changing programming options that excite and amaze, throughout the run of Luminaria, which could potentially expand into the new year.
There is no limit to the creative mediums or possibilities we will consider, but some constraints must be kept in mind when you’re preparing your submission. Luminaria is an outdoor, night-time, all-weather event, for all ages, so your proposal must take this into consideration.
Offerings must be low-contact and allow for safe physical distancing.
Interested? Please don’t delay. You have until November 2, 2020 to tell us what you or your group can do that will “wow” our visitors, along with an estimate of fees and costs.
