Call for Applications: Alchemy Artists Residency

Alchemy Artists Residency, Prince Edward County, ON
Program Dates:
August 9-20, 2019, Submission deadline: March 30, 2019 midnight

ALCHEMY is a 12-day residency devoted to exploring the synergy
between artistic practice and the sharing of food in a community
setting. Artists
immerse themselves in their varied practices during Prince Edward
Countys lush summer
season, while contributing creativity to lively salon-style communal
dinners. Readings
and discussions probe the intersections of food and art. Guest talks
and visits from local
farmers, makers and artists help us better understand the inspiration
generated by
making and sharing art and food in community settings.

ALCHEMY is led two strong advocates for these ideas:

Claire M. Tallarico is a visual artist, cook and urban gardener. Through
her practice Claire explores how the everyday activities of art making
and food
sharing, can make a difference in our communities.

Tonia Di Risio is a visual artist. Her work has developed through
ongoing investigations of the growing, making, preserving, celebrating
and sharing of food.

ALCHEMY 2019 is limited to 14 participants. Residents live and work in
neighboring farmhouses in a quiet corner of Prince Edward County
called Hillier.
The County is known for its strong agricultural roots, a thriving arts and
cultural
community, outstanding natural beauty and farm-to-table cuisine.

Fees plus taxes (CAD): $1275.00 for single, $1150.00 for double,
$1050.00 for triple bedrooms (includes housing, shared meals, studio
space, guest artist
talks and an Open Studio event). A 2019 bursary program is available.

Artists with an appetite for living in a community setting while creating
art and shared meals are encouraged to apply. Applications must
include artist CV,
artist statement, a letter of intent, and images/artist website.
