POSITION: 1-Course Term Appointment (Four-Month – subject to renewal) in Business Tools for Illustrators

RESPONSIBILITIES
To instruct 1 (3 hour) course in Business Tools for Illustrators in the Independent Illustration Diploma.

Experience in the administration and promotion of a freelance illustration business including; invoicing, fees negotiation, contracts, receipts for tax return, client correspondence and job documentation; as well as experience in identity graphics design and entrepreneurial, marketing and promotion of brand identity.

QUALIFICATIONS
Established artistic practice with expertise in administering a small business of freelance illustration is essential as is experience in teaching, especially at a post-secondary level. An interest in the future directions of illustration would be beneficial.

• Completed academic credential in the discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Previous teaching experience essential, preferably at the post-secondary level
• Minimum of 5 years visual art practice
• Excellent presentation, communication and human relation skills to interact effectively with the College’s diverse student and staff population.
• An understanding of and commitment to equity in education.

PROGRAM
The Illustration Diploma within the School of Creative Arts and Animation at Seneca College is unique in the province. A four semester, two year diploma combines traditional illustrative media, digital media and business skills to give the independent artist the skills necessary to succeed in the rapidly changing world of illustration.
