BOOKS THAT MAKE US CRY is a participatory project that invites the public to submit the title of a book that has made them cry. For the month of October, Alana Moore and Linda Duvall are occupying BAM (Bridges Art Movement) Saskatoon three days a week, drawing the front covers of the books that have made people cry.
CLOSING EVENT – On Thursday, October 24th, 2019 6pm to 9pm.
At 7pm, the project will present a Crying Chorus and readings in partnership with Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre, Saskatoon, SK.
ONGOING Submissions – The artists are currently receiving submissions for the project. Send titles of books that have made you cry to BAM at bamsaskatoon@gmail.com or drop by BAM during open studio hours.

Location – Drinkle3 Mall, 115 3 Ave S, Saskatoon, SK, lower level (this venue is partially accessible. There are entrance stairs to the lower level and access to an elevator. However, there are no accessible washrooms).
About the artists
Linda Duvall is a Saskatoon-based visual artist whose work exists at the intersection of collaboration, performance and conversation. Her hybrid practice addresses recurring themes of connection to place, grief and loss, and the many meanings of exclusion and absence.

Alana Moore is a visual artist based in Saskatoon, SK. Her work is an exploration of shame and vulnerability using participatory projects, interviews, and research. She prefers collaboration. Moore is currently the Artist-in-Residence at Sherbrooke Community Centre and works as a Program Guide at Remai Modern. In 2015 and 2016, Moore curated and directed Street Meet: Saskatoon’s Street, Public and Graffiti Art Festival.

Bridges Art Movement (BAM) is a grassroots art collective that curates experimental art exhibitions and hosts monthly Artist Residencies in downtown Saskatoon. BAM was founded in 2014.
BAM has a mandate to build relationships with arts and community organizations, nurture collaboration between emerging and established professional artists, and promote Saskatchewan art through production, presentation, and discussion of innovative, experimental, and diverse contemporary art.
