BEYOND MEASURE, A PERFORMANCE ART SURVEY, FOCUSES ON THE PRACTICES AND SUBJECTS ARTISTS EMPLOY TO EXPAND THEIR MESSAGE USING IMAGES AND PERFORMANCE ART.

Beyond Measure: a Performance Art survey in Metro Detroit and Windsor.

Call for submissions, Issue #08, Fall 2019.
Barbed Magazine

Metro Detroit – Windsor, June 18, 2019Barbed is pleased to announce the eighth call for submissions entitled, Beyond Measure: a Performance Art survey in Metro Detroit and Windsor. The issue will be focused on the images that are captured during a performance, how the artists exercise visual imagery to deliver a varied perspective, understanding that there is no public present, just the camera. Often, performance art is intended to be experienced live, in real time, with images functioning as a recording action. The call is meant for artists who use performance art as a medium, in ways that may lead to a different outcome, or just as experimentation.

This is a call for artists who use the camera to test the physicality of the body, its strengths, and its weaknesses. Artists are encouraged to submit work created within the last two years or entirely new work that has never been shown before. The publication will open to all subject matters, including performative gestures and politically driven themes.

Artists selected for the eight issue of Barbed will receive a complimentary copy of the magazine and an artist’s fee.**
