What opportunities do you believe Windsor-Essex has to grow our art, culture and heritage sector?

Windsor-Essex has so much to offer.  There is so much heritage to be celebrated. Arts and culture connects us to humanity and breaks down boundaries. This is an area that is diverse. We have the opportunity to cluster our arts and  culture activities. We have the opportunity to enhance economic development by attracting talent and spurring innovation.

How do you propose to attract or retain artists and cultural workers in your community?

Clustering the opportunities will help to attract and retain artists and cultural workers. Creation of opportunities through arts festivals

What role do you see for arts and culture in the promotion of the region both as a destination for tourists and as a place of permanent residence for youth, families, and retirees?

Arts and Culture spur economic development and provides opportunities for community engagement for people of all ages. Tourists and residents seek local engagement.

In what other ways could you use your position as an elected official to help support the arts, culture and heritage sector outside of using municipal funding?

Advocating and engaging in arts, culture and heritage. Protecting the arts, culture and heritage in our community. Hosting or supporting community festivals and events. Cultivating a culture where the arts, culture and heritage can thrive.

What is your perspective on the best ways to collaborate with other levels of government to ensure sustainability and growth for the cultural sector of our community?

Connectivity with all levels of government is key. Maintaining open relationships and committing to ongoing discussion. Utilization of Grant’s and service organizations.

How do you personally engage with arts, culture and heritage in Windsor-Essex?

I engage through civic engagement and encouraging youth engagement. Making room for creative spaces. Participating in festivals and event. Shopping locally and focusing on hand made products. Touring windsor essex. Staying abreast the arts council activities.
