Candidate: Jeff Renaud

Municipality: LaSalle

Position: Councillor

What opportunities do you believe Windsor-Essex has to grow our art, culture and heritage sector?

We need to involve multi-generational approach to understand, promote, preserve then enhance this sector.  Youth must learn from the experienced and be allowed to grow.

How do you propose to attract or retain artists and cultural workers in your community?

More opportunities to showcase their work.  Municipalities and business associations have great opportunities to partner and showcase.  The more we promote, the more we attract, the more we retain.

What role do you see for arts and culture in the promotion of the region both as a destination for tourists and as a place of permanent residence for youth, families, and retirees?

Every event and festival needs entertainment…that can be live on stage, that can be in art installations…anything that makes someone stop, take notice, stay and then return promotes tourism

In what other ways could you use your position as an elected official to help support the arts, culture and heritage sector outside of using municipal funding?

Profit sharing of public events…gate revenues, silent auctions

What is your perspective on the best ways to collaborate with other levels of government to ensure sustainability and growth for the cultural sector of our community?

Make them aware of what you have, how they affect others and how that enthusiasm can be shared on a larger platform.

How do you personally engage with arts, culture and heritage in Windsor-Essex?

I perform in multiple musical acts.  I promote artists and artisans on my social media and I book and hire artists for festivals and events.  I am a member of FEO.
