JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide direct, individual and group clinical art based interventions with clients in the Youth Justice Programs including those in OC/OD, NRAC and schoolboard as assigned. Use the creative art process to enhance clinical interventions, often
in conjunction with the clinical social worker. Individualize clinical sessions to address acute mental health and behavioural needs. Facilitate at minimum one specialized therapeutic treatment group weekly for youth in the Open Custody/Open Detention program or as directed by the OC/OD Program Manager to conduct ongoing community based clinical art groups targeting acute emotional, behavioural, and social needs as approved by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
A degree in social work, psychology, visual arts
An Art therapy diploma from a recognized institution
Demonstrated experience working with trauma and mental health with high risk and at risk youth
Professional experience with therapeutic art programming, including design, facilitation and evaluation
Professional experience with grant writing, research and evaluation
Professional experience with large-scale community projects
Application of various art media and art processes to direct clinical practice and clinical treatment goals.
Work as a member of a team and experience in multidisciplinary practice
Creative, enthusiastic, non-judgemental, strong communication/interpersonal skills to relate and develop rapport.
Police Record Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Screening is required. NVCI, CPR, First Aid Certificate, immunization record, medical clearance, a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence is required prior working
directly with clients
