The Airdrie Public Library is accepting submissions of interest from those interested in serving as this year’s APL Writer in Residence. The position entails a four-week engagement in the fall of 2021, working with the public and supporting emerging and established writers in any genre or form of writing. A forty-hour commitment is expected of the successful applicant. The Writer in Residence will receive a $3,000 honorarium.
The Writer in Residence will provide one-on-one consultations and will offer manuscript readings, blue pencil critiques, and publishing process advice. In addition, they will deliver four public speaking events including one reading of their work.
We are anticipating this program will be offered in person at the library, but the successful candidate may be required to work remotely, with some or all activities being offered online.

Applicants must:
● Have a solid publication history and an established reputation as a professional writer
● Be experienced in teaching and leading writing workshops
● Be able to critique a variety of writing styles and genres
● Be able to handle public speaking, work with groups, and work one-on-one
● Be available to undertake the engagement in November 2021.
