Curatorial Assistant (Full-Time, 11 Week Contract – August 12 – October 25)

The Robert McLaughlin Gallery is seeking a highly motivated and eager Curatorial Assistant to join a hardworking and passionate team for an 11 week contract. At the RMG we believe artists are essential navigators of our complex times and we work to mobilize our communities around inclusivity, equity and cultural exchange.

We are looking for a thoughtful and collaborative individual to work with our curatorial team on a number of special projects and research for our upcoming exhibitions. The Curatorial Assistant will gain valuable experience, fully participate in the production of fall exhibitions and be provided hands on learning opportunities.

You are…

Excited to learn and an engaged self-starter that is under 30 years of age at the start of the contract and planning to return to school within the next year. An ideal candidate must have a view to inclusivity and diversity, and a commitment to equity-based practices. You are interested in supporting artistic production and practice and to jump-in on all aspects of exhibition and public programming production. You are able to plan, prioritize, schedule and implement overlapping projects to ensure timely completion and you are able to ask for help when you need it.

You have:

  • Partially or recently completed a degree in art, art history, design, theory or related field.
  • Interest and knowledge of contemporary art
  • The ability to commit to the full term of employment
  • Comfort working both independently and in a team
  • Experience working with art objects + as a researcher
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office
