$18,800 OTF Grant Helps Local Arts Organization Pave a Pathway to Recovery

WINDSOR, ON – In May 2022, The Arts Council Windsor & Region (ACWR) received an $18,800 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to embark on a 9-month recovery-program. This funding allows ACWR to rebuild its financial capacity, update its strategic plan, and optimize member relations through the enhancement of programs and online services.

“I’m delighted for the Arts Council of Windsor’s success in securing Resilient Communities Fund support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation,” says Windsor—Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie.  “ACW’s program to review its financial capacity, update its strategic plan, and grow its membership will support the recovery of our region’s arts community and help it adapt to today’s environment.”

This grant will allow the ACWR to hire two new positions, a fundraising specialist and a strategic planner, to assist in the re-growth of the organization. Partnering with local web developer, ELEV8-WEB-STUDIO, the ACWR will expand their online member’s platform to better serve the artists in the community and stay up-to-date with ongoing technology advancements.

“This funding will allow us to re-connect our membership, the organization, and our local business partners. I believe that this funding will not only benefit ACWR, but it will also have a positive impact on the arts community at large,” says Kaitlyn Karns, Administrative & Outreach Coordinator for the ACWR.

ACWR’s Executive Director, Alejandro Tamayo exclaims how, “It is great news that we have received this support. This grant will help ACWR achieve its short- and long-term goals by continuing to adapt itself and properly respond to the uncertainties of the pandemic”.

The Arts Council Windsor & Region is a non-profit organization that serves all disciplines of individual artists, arts organizations and non-arts partners in promoting, developing and realizing creative activity. More information about the organization can be found at acwr.net.
