“These Crazy Times” is a fabric art project intended to re-connect those in our community who have lost human connections throughout the continuous COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. This project will engage seniors (55+) to work with like-minded individuals to create almost 300 individual quilt blocks, which will be joined to form one large quilt. We plan to create 3 independent quilt projects over the 8-month project. On Wednesday mornings, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, the project participants will meet and work on their independent quilt squares, with the intention of connecting them to create at least one full quilt by the end of the project. Each quilting project will have a theme and will require seniors to collaborate to design, deliver, finish and present the finished product(s). As a result, up to 25 senior participants per week, workshop instructors, and volunteer leaders will benefit from the renewal of skills, learning through online and in-person training, engage in social opportunities, form new friendships and build stronger networks. This project will appeal to seniors of all abilities and cultural backgrounds.
