Local Artist Launching Public Exhibition with Reception at Mackenzie Hall

February 24, 2023 - February 26, 2023

Cost: 0

Windsor, ON – A local artist with an international profile is debuting a new collection with a public exhibition at Mackenzie Hall.

Award-winning artist Alexandra Tataru is hosting a reception previewing her latest collection, Ethnic Synergies, this Thursday, February 23rd.

The artist, who now calls Windsor home, immigrated to Canada from Spain almost immediately before the pandemic. “When I first came to Windsor, I was struck by how beautifully diverse the city was,” she says. “When the lockdowns were over, I began to see that diversity reemerge and burst back to life. That reemergence, that return to movement, helped to inspire this collection.”

Ethnic Synergies, an assemblage of vibrant portraiture, marks at once a departure from and a continuation of Ms. Tataru’s immediately previous works, which focused on cityscapes of some of Canada’s most recognizable skylines—inspired by the artist’s visits to Canada.

The new Windsorite is excited about her current collection, and even more so to be sharing it with the fellow residents of her adopted home. “As a new resident of Canada and of Windsor-Essex, it makes me very happy to finally be able to interact with the local community directly.

There is connection through art.”Ms. Tataru is partnering with local charity Transition to Betterness for this exhibition, to whom a portion of all proceeds is proudly being donated.

The Ethnic Synergies Exhibition is open to the public and admission is free. It runs as follows:
Friday, February 24th — 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, February 25th — 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
