The Bank Theatre stage is set for its 2nd theatrical production of the 2022 season.

“Five Alarm” by Canadian playwright Kristin Da Silva is Co-Directed by local theatre veterans David and Sharon Light and runs from June 3-5 and June 10-12.

Co-Directors David & Sharon Light said, “Putting this show together has been an absolute blast. Our thanks go to our wonderful cast and all those from The Bank Theatre who have lent a helping hand. Come along and find out just what the special ingredient is.”

David and Sharon Light are performers well-known across Essex County and beyond. The Lights have created and performed in numerous successful productions for decades. Although this is their initial foray into directing for The Bank Theatre, they come with a substantial list of theatrical credits.

The setting for “Five Alarm” is a fairground in Killaloe, Ontario which is home to the annual Wayne Rose Memorial Chili Cook-Off where Killaloe residents come each year to compete for the honour and the cash prize. The most determined of these is Ava Rose played by Linda Collard, who has tried (and failed) to win for sixteen years.

This year, with the help of a new assistant, Ava returns to battle her former childhood friend and rival. If she can piece together her late father’s missing Five Alarm chili recipe she might just piece together the mysteries of her past.

Cast members also include veteran actors from the Windsor Essex County region including Cristina Orlando, Cindy Pastorius, Joey Ouellette, and Kyle C. Haight.

President of The Bank Theatre and Chair of Programming John Moran said, “This is a great production to go into the summer season with. It’s funny and it’s heartwarming and it’s a great show to head out to enjoy dinner uptown Leamington first, watch the play and go for dessert afterward. It’s all about local really!”

Tickets for the show are $20 with runs on Friday and Saturday on June 3 & 4 and June 10 and 11, doors open at 7 PM, and show at 7:30 PM. Sunday matinees are June 5 and June 12, doors open at 2 PM and the show at 2:30 PM. The Leamington All Access Arts Pass, developed with the participation of the LAC, is also welcome at the box office for admission.

To purchase tickets, visit our Box Office Thursday-Saturday 11 am-1 pm, online at https://banktheatre.com/project/five-alarm-2/ or at the door day of the show.
