About the facilitator:

Paul Pratt
I have been an active birder and naturalist for over sixty years, recording 3,800 species and traveling throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico, Central & South America, Africa and Australia in pursuit of my passion for birds and wildlife.
For ten years straight I was the co-holder of the World Series of Birding out-of-region “Big Day” record and overall winner for three years. This event is held in New Jersey each May and is the largest one-day fundraiser for conservation in North America. Teams from across North America and Europe compete to see which team can record the largest number of species in a single day. In Canada, our team has set Canadian Big Day records in 10 provinces and territories I am a permitted bird bander for hummingbirds, northern saw-whet owls and all song birds. I currently hold a banding station permit with banding conducted in Wheatley and Holiday Beach Conservation Area.
My photography has appeared in national and international nature publications, books, newspapers, scientific journals, interpretive signs, web pages, advertisements and as references for works of art. Photographs have been published in magazines such as Equinox, Seasons, Ontario Nature, Nature Canada, Les Débrouillards as well as publications in France and New Zealand; in books such as Islands of Green, Wildflowers of Canada, The Natural Treasure of Carolinian Canada, Robert Bateman Naturalist Diary; in television such as National Geographic Channel Presents.
