Pottery Demonstration with Ford City Potters| Senior Community Arts Program
August 13 @ 10:30 am

The Arts Council Windsor & Region is proud to introduce a Senior Community Arts Program dedicated to empowering and engaging adults fifty and up. Through enriching workshops, skill-sharing activities, and a group exhibition at ArtSpeak Gallery, the program will foster creativity and meaningful connections. This free program will run monthly, from June 2025 – December 2025

This program is funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program

Join renowned ceramic artist (and Ford City Potter instructor) Tricia Leech of Teerustic Pottery for an inspiring demonstration of her signature decorative bowl techniques. Watch as Tricia transforms clay over a slump mold, then showcases the intricate carving and ethereal details that have made her work so distinctive. You’ll witness her masterful approach to embellishing each piece – delicately sculpting miniature flowers, adding textured, such as shells, and whimsical facial features, that bring personality to every bowl. Attendees will also get to create their own small clay flower using one of Tricia’s simple yet inspiring techniques, with a choice of two beautiful colors to dip it in. This rare opportunity to observe a master potter at work and create your own keepsake.

Wednesday August 13th, 10:30am – 12pm@ ArtSpeak Gallery, 1942 Wyandotte St.

This workshop requires registration, please contact [email protected] to receive your spot.

Gisele Bick

Gisele Bick has been practicing pottery for more than fifteen years and teaching for almost ten. She mostly creates one-of-a-kind functional pieces decorated with glazes she creates herself, transforming them into works of art. Her brand, G-Pots, is available in retail stores across Essex County and she was awarded the Mayor’s Art Award for Lakeshore, in 2018. Gisele brings her dedication to her craft to Ford City Potters, where she hopes her love for pottery becomes contagious. She is a two-time recipient of the Gloria Gellner Award, given by Windsor Area Potters for outstanding contributions to the craft. She manages the studio and teaches the wheel at Ford City Potters.

Lisa Gabriele

Lisa Gabriele first learned how to throw in high school, from the same Teacher as Gisele. Then Gisele became her teacher in 2020. She mostly creates one-off pieces and small series—wheel thrown and hand built—that are functional and whimsical. She sells in a few local retailers in Toronto and Windsor, and was included in the Toronto Potter’s Biennial at the Gardiner Museum, where she took several courses. She manages social media and marketing and teaches hand building at Ford City Potters and is the 2024 recipient of the Gloria Gellner award.

Tricia Leach

Tricia Leach is a local potter from Windsor Essex County. She has been doing pottery on and off for over 20 years and currently teaches at Ford City Potters. She works out of her home studio and sells under TeeRustic Pottery, with a focus on creating one of a kind, hand-carved, hand-painted pieces.
