Do you feel you are rushing through daily life?
Deadlines, hustle culture, family demands, the world’s definition of success, 8-second tiktoks, emails, reels and ads vying for our attention, can all make us feel pulled in many directions.
.
Some people might think that the word “still” just means lack of activity. Doing nothing. But “to still” is actually an active verb. It is a choice to find stillness amidst the mental chaos, regular concerns and endless tasks all neatly lined up on our to do lists. Sometimes we can feel so sucked into the rush of daily demands that we forget that we have a choice to pause, take a still moment, and just enjoy the present.
.
This exhibition features paintings of landscapes, florals, and still lives which fall somewhere between impressionism and realism. What binds the work together is the feeling they evoke: a calm satisfaction in enjoying the present moment.

Artist bio:
Emily grew up in Puce, (now part of Lakeshore), ON, and her childhood dream was to become an artist. Along the way, she explored many other forms of creative expression–from dance, to singing, and even obtained a B.A. in theatre for a liberal arts school in the US. After 4 years in a fast-paced position as a curator/editor for a faith-based magazine, Emily has returned this year to her artistic foundations. She enjoys painting landscapes/seascapes, trees, still lives, and portraits, working in oil pastel, watercolour, and acrylics.
