1) Sound Travels Festival of Sound Art

June 3 – Sept 20, 2021

NAISA’s longest running festival features outdoor sound art exhibitions at the NAISA North Media Arts Centre as well as on-line events and an indoor exhibition.

“NAISA introduces its new programming theme Digital in Nature, which is prompted by a reflection on the pervasive presence of digital technology in public life that plays out in parallel to a compulsion to leave the technology of the city behind and disappear up north to be closer to the natural world. The works curated for this year’s Sound Travels slide in and out of different points of tension and sympathy with both digital technology and how the natural world is represented in sound art.” – Darren Copeland, Artistic Director, New Adventures in Sound Art
