Art is a conversation – want to talk? In partnership with Artcite Inc., our “In Conversation” series will dive into the works of artists featured in the 2021 Windsor-Essex Triennial of Contemporary Art, and the crucial conversations that these works spark for all of us.
On Thursday, June 3rd at 7pm, join us for our fifth and final conversation – Extending Media – with curators Ray Cronin and Lucas Cabral, and artists Canada Herrera, Christopher McNamara, and Imogen Clendinning. These three artists all extend media in various ways. These days, with extensions of media at our every turn, it can seem like we’re like goldfish in a bowl: media is the essence of our environment more than it is a tool.
As we become creatures of media and adapt to our always evolving surroundings, it is not the medium that extends us, but we who extend the media. Extending Media is a conversation about how we live now, how we think now, and how we navigate a world that we seemingly create anew every time we interact with it.
