HeArt from the Streets, a community-led, grassroots art project is set to have its third show open across Drouillard Rd.: Bad Girl Hair, Bunch, Chance Coffee, Circuit, Cookie Bar, Petrella’s, and Wolf and Rebel. This project showcases both solo and group artworks done by people accessing services at shelters across Windsor including: Homelessness Housing Help Hub (H4), Women’s Welcome Centre Shelter (WWC/WCS), the Windsor Youth Centre (WYC), Downtown Mission (DTM), and Assisted Living Southwestern Ontario (ALSO). The silent auction and showcase of these works can be viewed by the public starting August 6th until August 22nd, 2025. The HeArt project will be in attendance at Dropped on Drouillard this upcoming Saturday.
The first of its kind in Windsor, this year’s showcase followed a series of workshops hosted by local artisans Andrea Niven, Ehm Roe, and Meaghan Sweeney, who hosted workshops for 3 months across shelter partners and facilitated skills based learning opportunities to folks accessing shelter services at WYC, WWC, and H4. This year’s show has over 127 pieces of artwork done by artists who attended these workshops, as well as artwork submitted by self-taught artists living at ALSO, all available for public viewing across shops on Drouillard Rd.
These works are available for purchase through silent auction on galabid.com/hfts2025, available until 22nd August, 2025.
This is the third rendition of HeArt from the Streets show, formerly known as Colors of Resilience. In the past, this show has received full funding from the Arts, Cultural, and Heritage Fund grant, this year it is a community-driven initiative and hosted by the incredibly philanthropic shop owners on Drouillard. In the past two years, over $5000 has been distributed to participating artists, through the sale of over 200 artworks by silent auction and community support.
