Creative Space Rental Workshops with ArtsBuild

This 2 part workshop is for any arts professionals looking for ways to expand their current renter audience or just starting a space rental program. This workshop also serves as a useful tool for any arts professional looking to diversify their skill set around space rentals and revenue development. *This workshop is two-part series of workshops on the topic of space rentals hosted by ArtsBuild Ontario.

Space Rentals for Beginners

Space rentals are a significant revenue source that contributes to the sustainability of many creative organizations and small businesses. Using examples from the sector, this session will cover how to define, target and engage with current and new renter audiences. This workshop is open to all creative venues and small businesses currently offering space rentals. This workshop also serves as a useful tool for smaller/newer rental spaces expecting to grow as well as arts professionals looking to better understand risk in space rentals.

Best Practices for Managing Risk in Space Rentals

What does it mean to manage risk in your rental space? What is your organization’s attitude towards potential hazards? In this session, we will cover what creative venues and small businesses need to know about operational, financial and legal risk when it comes to renting out space.

About Alex Glass:

Alex Glass

Alex has been with ArtsBuild since January 2015 and is responsible for the overall programs, partnerships and communications at ArtsBuild Ontario. She managed the expansion of SpaceFinder across Canada as well as developed and delivered The Learning Series — a collection of workshops, webinars, and resources that support ABO’s core programs. She connects with arts organizations and communities across Ontario, and is always looking to provide new and relevant programs for creative spaces. From 2015-16, Alex was the Marketing and Communications Coordinator.

She brings experience from previous roles in the arts and nonprofit sector, including the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Talisker Players Chamber Music and Canterbury Hills Conference Centre and Camp. Alex holds an honours degree in English and Cultural Studies from McMaster University and is a graduate from Mohawk College’s Public Relations Graduate Certificate program.
