Be sure to join us for this month’s AWE at Night on April 17th! Both AWE and Museum Windsor are open for an evening filled with art activities, community discussions, guided tours, and great vibes.
Art Activity: Yarn Birds with Alexandria Masse⎮ 5pm – 8:30pm, 2nd floor, Education Studio
Alex Masse is back in the studio! Create a small yarn bird, just in time for spring. Come solo or bring a flock—everyone’s welcome! Materials and instructions provided.
Alexandria Masse s a textile and fibre artist from Wawiiatanong (Windsor, ON) whose work blends wearable art, soft sculpture, and cultural storytelling. Using techniques like sewing, knitting, and crochet, she explores identity, memory, and matriarchal craft traditions. Inspired by her mother’s culture and the natural world, Masse reclaims space through playful, intricate creations that challenge the boundaries of contemporary craft.
Curator Tour: A Snapshot of Windsor’s Literary History with Marty Gervais ⎮ 6pm – 6:30pm, main floor, Museum Windsor
Join Guest Curator Marty Gervais as he discusses his new exhibition and highlights some interesting stories from Windsor’s Literary Past. This event is organized by Museum Windsor.
Marty Gervais is an award-winning poet, journalist, photographer, playwright, historian, editor, and teacher. He is also the City of Windsor’s 1st Poet Laurette and current Poet Laureate Emeritus as well as the publisher of Black Moss Press.
Community Conversation: Jane’s Walk⎮ 6:30pm – 7pm, 3rd floor galleries
Every year, cities around the world organize Jane’s Walks to celebrate and explore their neighbourhoods. Led by volunteers and free to attend, these guided walks and talks introduce participants to the history, ecology, architecture, and people that shape local communities. This year, Windsor-Essex Jane’s Walk is hosting 55 events across more than 20 neighbourhoods—highlighting a strong desire for community-led programs that help us better understand the world around us. What can we learn from these walks, and how might they inspire us to see our everyday spaces in new ways?
