About Thrive: Youth Drop-in:

Thrive is an initiative at the Art Gallery of Windsor to offer bimonthly virtual peer facilitated drop-in art-based programming for young people in the region. Thrive aims to offer young people, particularly 2S-LGBTQQIA+ youth and our allies, a welcoming and respectful (virtual) space to meet, learn, and grow through the arts and culture. Together, we will explore artworks in the AGW’s permanent collection and engage in arts-based activities, as well as having time to socialize and chat with each other. Thrive’s mandate is to create greater access to arts-based learning opportunities and compelling artistic, cultural, and heritage experiences for youth in the region.

About the Run for Rocky Legacy Project:

April 9th has been declared Run for Rocky Legacy Project Day by the City of Windsor. On this day, and during the month of April yearly, Run for Rocky will roll out initiatives to ensure the Legacy of education on diversity issues continues in Windsor. The Run for Rocky Legacy Project fundraises to support Gay-Straight Alliances/ Gender-Sexuality Alliances in schools in the Windsor-Essex County region and ensure that LGBTQ+ students are supported within their communities. In addition, this funding has helped initiate education programs for parents of LGBTQ+ youth, educators and students, and the broader community alike.

Gay Straight Alliance/Gender Sexuality Alliance clubs unite LGBTQ+ students, straight allies, and members of the school community who are committed to making schools safer and more accepting for LGBTQ+ students. GSAs can help empower LGBTQ youth and strengthen the commitment of straight allies working in partnership to build bridges, improve school climates, and change school policies. Strong, well-supported GSAs can have a major impact on the education environment and possess the power to transform individuals, school cultures, and educational institutions.
