Out of Ashes | Maya Chmaissany

October 6 - October 11

This collection of ceramics was inspired by a 6 week period of observation and creation at Kava cafe and bakery, facilitated by ACWR through their Creatives At Work residency. The work was primarily influenced by observations of the morning bakery process, connections to ceramic processes, and links to personal history. Targeted dough ballers, caged mixers, loading forms on a shroud. Harsh processes on soft mediums, altered and shaped through their experiences. Made stronger, weaker, more beautiful, more sour.

Put through fire, put through hell.

After the fire, what remains?”

Closing Reception: Friday, Oct 10th from 7-9pm
