Creatives at Work: ACWR Connects Artists and Creatives with Local Businesses

 Windsor, ON – The Arts Council Windsor & Region (ACWR) is announcing the upcoming launch of a new program, Creatives at Work, scheduled to begin on June 2, 2025. The program will feature six artist residencies hosted by local businesses, as well as a series of professional development workshops for emerging, mid-career, and established artists. This initiative will create meaningful opportunities for local artists to connect, grow their practice, and advance their careers.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) Seed Grant funds this initiative developed in response to the Arts & Culture survey ACWR collected last November, in which local artists and creatives highlighted the lack of spaces and opportunities for creative collaboration. 

Creatives at Work offers businesses fresh perspectives to their spaces, allows artists to work in new and unexpected ways, and presents the public with unique opportunities for meaningful engagement with ideas and materiality. 

“We are very excited to offer this new program to the community. We think of it as a seed that will be planted in fertile soil, and we hope it will grow and lead to new opportunities for artists and businesses to collaborate in the future,” stated Alejandro Tamayo, Executive Director of ACWR.

ACWR enhances the economic and social well-being of the community through arts empowerment. This is done by strengthening the arts, creating and expanding opportunities, and enriching the community’s quality of life through arts awareness. The organization provides education and professional development workshops, advocacy for arts and arts organizations, builds partnerships within the community, and increases the awareness and accessibility of arts and arts-related activities in our region.
