The Yukon School of Visual Arts (SOVA) offers a rigorous eight-month Foundation Year Program in the community of Dawson City, Yukon, situated within the traditional territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in. SOVA is a first-year undergraduate level educational institution overseen by a Governance Council composed of the Dawson City Arts Society, Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation and Yukon University. Graduating students can complete their BFAs at SOVA-affiliated art schools across Canada, including OCAD University, NSCAD University, Alberta University of the Arts, Emily Carr University, Thompson Rivers University, and Mount Allison University

Successful applicants for this position will have a minimum Masters of Fine Arts (Studio), degree or equivalency, with a demonstrated record of professional activity including: exhibitions, curatorial work and publications. Experience teaching 2D and 3D studio courses at an undergraduate level is preferred. Knowledge of historic and contemporary Indigenous and other aesthetic traditions is essential to this position. Support in the form of syllabus and curriculum development will be available to instructors.

Consideration may be given to candidates with the appropriate blend of education and experience.
