“Here, Always”: Trans Day of Visibility Art Zine Information

Transgender Day of Visibility is recognized internationally on March 31st of each year, in order to recognize and celebrate the survival and accomplishments of transgender individuals and communitites everywhere against a violently discriminatory polcial climate. In rexognizing this important date, Alliance for Trans Youth organizer Eddie (he/him) is excited to take on a one-time zine project tentatively titled Here, Always. The zine is intended to celebrate the beauty and diversity of trans creation in all its forms and will feature submissions from local (Windsor) trans-identified creators. We welcome a wide range of art, including written works, collages, drawings, painting, photographs, or any other work that can be published in print.

In the weeks leading up to Trans Day of Visibility, we will distribute free copies of the zine to local businesses and hubs in order to showcase the magic of queer creativity. In a time when political forces seek to silence and erase queer voices, the creation of trans art is nothing shy of revolutionary.

Call for Submissions

The Alliance for Trans Youth is calling for submissions of all kinds of art originating from trans-identified creators. We recognize that the works most celebrated or recognized as “art” are all often those created by and for the comfort of the most privileged and powerful classes and narratives of our society, and seek to celebrate the beauty of everyday, even “mundane” creation by those who may or may not consider themselves “artists” or may not have formal training in the arts.

In keeping with the missions of the Alliance for Trans Youth, we may seek to prioritize pieces that are appropriate for viewership of all ages.

Eddie has creative direction on this project and art submissions will be shared directly with him. They can be emailed to him at our new email address, alliance4transyouth@gmail.com. The deadline for submission is Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 to allow time for creating, printing, and disseminating the zine. Contributors should include in their email information about how they would like their work to be credited, if at all. Those who omit this information will be credited as an anonymous contributor.
