What should Windsor’s mayoral candidates be asked about Arts & Culture?
Help shape the conversation about arts and culture in Windsor.
With the municipal election approaching in October, the Arts Council Windsor & Region is inviting artists, arts workers, and members of the broader community to submit questions they would like us to ask mayoral candidates about their vision and commitments for arts and culture in Windsor.
Your questions will help us identify the issues that matter most to our community and give candidates an opportunity to share their perspectives on the future of arts and culture in our city.
Their responses will help you make an informed decision in the upcoming election.

How it works
ACWR will collect community input until Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Midnight.
Once the questionnaire closes, we will review the submissions, identify recurring themes, and combine similar questions where appropriate. This input will help ACWR develop a final set of questions for Windsor’s mayoral candidates.
All 11 mayoral candidates will receive the same questions, response guidelines, and deadline. Their responses will be published on ACWR’s website and shared with the community ahead of the municipal election.
The questionnaire also asks participants about priorities including municipal arts funding, support for local artists and creative workers, affordable creative spaces, public art, arts education, accessibility, community programming, cultural tourism, and Windsor’s creative economy.
Candidates’ responses will be published on our website and shared with the community on Wednesday, October 7th.
An ACWR initiative
Arts and culture contribute to Windsor’s quality of life, neighbourhoods, economy, identity, and sense of community. Municipal decisions can have a significant impact on the conditions in which artists and cultural organizations work.
This initiative is intended to create an opportunity for the community to identify its priorities and for mayoral candidates to explain their vision and commitments for arts and culture.
ACWR will share what we heard through the community questionnaire, giving the public and the arts sector a record of the issues and priorities raised during the 2026 municipal election.
A non-partisan initiative
ACWR’s 2026 Municipal Election Initiative is non-partisan. ACWR does not endorse or oppose candidates for public office.
All mayoral candidates will be offered the same opportunity to respond to the final questionnaire, and candidate responses will be presented using a consistent format.
