Join us Wednesday, October 15th for a panel discussion between professional artists and culture workers Nadja Pelkey, Jade Wallace, and Mark Laliberte for tips and insight to help you move forward in your creative career. The panelists will discuss different strategies for getting unstuck and bolstering momentum, approaches to navigating different artistic communities, and habits for maintaining an active and fulfilling practice while pursuing opportunities for career advancement. The panelists have extensive experience working with artists and creatives as well as being practicing artists themselves, so come with questions!

The Creatives at Work Professional Development Workshop Series is dedicated to empowering local artists with the skills and knowledge to level up their career. Through enriching workshops and skill-sharing activities, the program will foster skill development and professional knowledge.

Nadja Pelkey is currently the Digital Initiatives and Partnerships Coordinator at Art Windsor-Essex. She is an artist, writer, curator/programmer, and cultural worker based in Windsor, ON. Pelkey’s work has been included in exhibitions and publications both regionally and nationally, and her practice has received support from several granting and awarding agencies including the Canada Council.
Through her role as an educator and cultural worker, Pelkey has been actively engaged in mentorship, research, and consultant work. She recently presented Museums, Mirrors, and Machine Learning 101 at the WE Robot international conference on Engineering, Artificial intelligence and Law, and The New Aesthetic Economy: Law, Tokens & the Global Art Marketplace at Bridging Borders, Businesses, and Global Connections conference with Art-o-logy’s Nia Thompson.

MA|DE (est. 2018) is a collaborative writing entity co-founded by Mark Laliberte and Jade Wallace. MA|DE is the author of 4 chapbooks, including the bpNichol Award-shortlisted A Trip to the ZZOO from Collusion Books. MA|DE’s first full-length poetry collection, ZZOO, came out with Palimpsest Press in early 2025. A subsequent collection, Detourism, will be out with Palimpsest in 2028.

Mark Laliberte (Windsor, ON) is a writer/artist/designer whose poems & pageworks appear in publications big & small, including Ink Brick, Poetry, prairie fire, subTerrain. Recent books include asemanticasymmetry (Anstruther), BookBook (above/ground) & Explosive Comic(Swimmers Group). Laliberte is a member of MA|DE, whose 2025 debut book of poetry, ZZOO is out now with Palimpsest Press

Jade Wallace (they/them) is a poet, novelist, and literary critic. Their solo books include two poetry collections, Love Is A Place But You Cannot Live There and The Work Is Done When We Are Dead (Guernica Editions, 2023 and 2026) and a genderless novel, ANOMIA (Palimpsest Press, 2024). Wallace is also the co-founder of MA|DE, whose debut ZZOO is out now.
